Silence

“Just as there is no such thing as absolute death, nor is there absolute silence, for silence, too, converses in its own language and dialect.”
—Elif Shafak, There are Rivers in the Sky

I wonder if I will ever experience silence again. Real silence that wakes me up to what is, that energizes me with awareness of everything, that shows me my true nature and allows me to truly see; unhindered by interference, however subtle others may think it is.

Because all the interference we experience is not subtle. It is crude and brutish. It confuses and confounds and exhausts our human potential and creativity.

We live this torture every day, and it eats away at our humanity, such that if silence is experienced, it can be frightening in its hollow lack and vertigo. Yet we still crave the silence, when it can be experienced as peace. Only in that state can we can access the truth of what we are.

This is an ongoing exploration of silence in all its forms; an opportunity to reflect and meditate on its many benefits.
