Why drawing from life?
The human form has always fascinated artists and, for many, it is the basis for all drawing. It is as challenging as it is rewarding and enlightening. It hones the artist's hand-eye coordination and, in its infinite diversity, it is always new.
The human body's complex outer structure reveals so much more than shapes and textures. There is much to explore below the surface—bones, muscles, moods, feelings, consciousness and a life lived, all of which make each of us unique. Life drawing can help put us in touch with the magnificence that exists in all human beings.
Life drawing takes the artist through a fascinating process of observation and editing, feeling and application, each in a unique way. It’s a never-ending process—always exciting and a valuable tool in the growth of any artist.
What people say about my courses

Lewis has uncommon knowledge of how the creative process is an essential part of human life and he is able to help people dig deep into themselves to find their innate creative spirit.
In his life drawing course at the McMillan Arts Centre, I experienced not only my own growth and transformation as a beginner, but also each of the other individuals in the class experiencing something that allowed them to move forward in their exploration of an art practice. I am changed by the experience and look forward to what I will draw next!
I would say if you are leery of taking an art class, especially life drawing, take a course with Lewis and 'get over it'!

I might have given up on drawing the human form, if not for your classes
I would highly recommend your art course to anyone that is interested in learning how to draw the human body. There are a lot of creative ways to draw the body that I have learned so far. It gets me to think outside the box more. It frees me up in my art.
I would like to personally thank you Lewis, I might have given up on drawing the human form if it had not been for your classes. Thank you
What is it like being a model on this course?
Modelling for Lewis Evans and his life drawing class was a great experience. Lewis and his students were a great group to work with, everyone was very professional and respectful. Lewis has a fun teaching style and came up with all sorts of different activities for the students, making the sessions very fun to be a part of.

From a happy customer of a life drawing event
Good Morning Lewis, I’m just back in Toronto this morning and am thinking about the weekend. Wow, Wow, Wow!!
The feedback from your session was incredible and it exceeded our expectations in so many ways. The girls couldn’t stop talking about how much they enjoyed your guidance and introduction to this beautiful art form.
We had such a great weekend – but this event topped the activities without a doubt. I think we broke a record for the most creative girls’ weekend ever!
Thanks again for everything, Rebecca
