Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.

Lewis Evans is a fantastic artist! His paintings are brilliant and I’m captivated by the honesty and emotion in all his work. His paintings will always be a part of my collection.

Creativity and art courses

Free up, get creative!

You may think you cannot draw or paint. Maybe you’ve never tried it, but would like to, or you may want to bring new inspiration to your day job or find creative solutions to whatever challenges you face. Either way, this is not so much about the results you get, as giving yourself the opportunity to break through your own barriers and experience something new—something that has always been inside you, but that you may not have accessed or activated. On a Creative Juices creativity workshop, you can explore your own unique creative potential in a positive and supportive environment. Suitable for beginners, non-artists and practicing artists alike, it provides a wonderful space in which to relax and find new ways to experience the world around and inside you—something you can build on for many years to come. Discover the tools you need to bring out your latent artistic gifts, whatever they may be, and find ways to enjoy the creative process while accessing a deeper part of yourself. Above all, though, this is a workshop to enjoy! Each can work at his or her own pace as part of a small group, with plenty of personal attention and guidance.

Group workshops and holiday courses

Interested in arranging something special for a group? Contact me and we will create something incredible. We can provide anything from a day or weekend in Vancouver to a 7-day holiday course in San Jose del Cabo, where you can explore the power and purpose of your creativity—and enjoy a holiday in the sun! This is a workshop extraordinaire, extending Creative Juices to a whole week of creative exploration, passion and fulfillment. On a typical day, we have a leisurely breakfast followed by a three-hour session of guided/facilitated creative processes. Lunch is followed by some leisure time on the beach and maybe a local excursion. After an early dinner, we continue in the cool of the evening for another hour or two of creative activities, and then enjoy the nightlife! Holiday courses are a powerful way to activate and tap into your creative essence, often yielding the most amazing and unexpected results—from work-related breakthroughs to relationship insights and more. These courses also enable you to make the creative process an integral part of your life, transforming the way you think, solve problems and make decisions. Away from all the distractions of work and home life, you can establish a new way forward—and keep it going when you return home.

From a happy customer of a life drawing event

Good Morning Lewis, I’m just back in Toronto this morning and am thinking about the weekend. Wow, Wow, Wow!! The feedback from your session was incredible and it exceeded our expectations in so many ways. The girls couldn’t stop talking about how much they enjoyed your guidance and introduction to this beautiful art form. We had such a great weekend – but this event topped the activities without a doubt. I think we broke a record for the most creative girls’ weekend ever! Thanks again for everything, Rebecca

Drawing from life

The human form has always fascinated artists and, for many, it is the basis for all drawing. It is as challenging as it is rewarding and enlightening. It hones the artist's hand-eye coordination and, in its infinite diversity, it is always new.

The human body's complex outer structure reveals so much more than shapes and textures. There is much to explore below the surface—bones, muscles, moods, feelings, consciousness and a life lived, all of which make each of us unique. Life drawing can help put us in touch with the magnificence that exists in all human beings.

Life drawing takes the artist through a fascinating process of observation and editing, feeling and application, each in a unique way. It’s a never-ending process—always exciting and a valuable tool in the growth of any artist.

Lewis has uncommon knowledge of how the creative process is an essential part of human life and he is able to help people dig deep into themselves to find their innate creative spirit.

In his life drawing course at the McMillan Arts Centre, I experienced not only my own growth and transformation as a beginner, but also each of the other individuals in the class experiencing something that allowed them to move forward in their exploration of an art practice. I am changed by the experience and look forward to what I will draw next!

I would say if you are leery of taking an art class, especially life drawing, take a course with Lewis and 'get over it'!

Heidi Abbott , President, Oceanside Community Arts Council

Lewis, I think you are a great teacher! You see the best in all your students, are encouraging and give plenty of advice about how to improve our own work. I have left other art classes feeling like crap, but I left yours feeling like there is maybe some potential here, and I want to continue. My art explorations have always been all about the process for me, not the product, but maybe someday I will actually finish something. I learned as much from the things you said and talked about as I did from the skill development. You seem always to be very, very well prepared for class and introduced us to many different artists, approaches and attitudes. (Also, you have a great sense of humour!) I want you to know that I now draw or paint every day and now have a brand new fancy camera to learn about too. For the first time I actually show my work to other people, instead of squirreling it away! Thankyou for the end-of-class champagne and the certificate, which I have proudly taped to my fridge!

Not yet, but I will be looking for the novel when I return from Europe! I will be enjoying the Musee d'Orsay with new eyes in a week or so!

I recommend you often already!

What is it like being a life drawing model?

"Modelling for Lewis Evans and his life drawing class was a great experience. Lewis and his students were a great group to work with, everyone was very professional and respectful. Lewis has a fun teaching style and came up with all sorts of different activities for the students, making the sessions very fun to be a part of. "
